Tom Burchell

Screenwriting

Tom is a versatile screenwriter currently working on several different projects from tense modern thrillers to absurdist comedies. 

​

While studying at Royal Holloway, University of London he specialised in screenwriting which has equipped him to write a variety of shorts, online content and features. He has several scripts currently in production. 

​

Current influences include Richard Linklater, Peter Bogdonovich and Paul Thomas Anderson.

Tom has been composing and arranging film music for over 15 years, and has previously provided music for Ghostumentary (2015) and I Hear Jazz in Central Park (2024). He is also a member of indie rock band The Paperwaits where he plays keys, bass, sings and writes songs alongside his brother Scott.

In the last ten years Tom has taken a particular interest in arranging and composing within a vintage style, drawing from Hollywood golden age cinema, easy listening music from the 1950s-1980s and composers and orchestrators like Max Steiner, Jerry Herman, Conrad Salinger and Alexander Courage.

He has spent several years studying and reconstructing old musical scores and has a particular talent for arraging music in this classic style.
